About
Studio Tolstoy is a London-based design practice lead by Oleg Tolstoy, who previously built a distinguished career in fine art and portrait photography.
For over fifteen years, he captured people in their environments worldwide, including portraits of figures such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mick Jones and Elton John in their homes. This foundation, combined with a refined understanding of light, editing, composition and storytelling, forms the backbone of Studio Tolstoy’s design philosophy.
A life-changing accident prompted Oleg to redirect his creative path towards a long-held passion of his – interiors. During this period, he came to understand, in the most immediate way, the impact that one’s surroundings have on well-being. The home was no longer just a backdrop but a vital space that needed to deliver on every detail. This conviction continues to drive Studio Tolstoy: creating interiors that function beautifully, feel deeply personal, and provide a true sense of sanctuary.
Having operated his own photography agency for a decade, Oleg brings a unique combination of curatorial vision and commercial expertise to Studio Tolstoy, leveraging extensive gallery connections to source exceptional pieces while managing client relationships with efficient project management.
